Greta Thunberg and a group of militants sailed to Gaza in an attempt to provide assistance, and the Israeli military intercepted and captured their ship Madleen earlier on Monday.
The group, known as the “Free Fleet Alliance”, is protesting Israel's military offensive in the Gaza Strip, one of the deadliest and most destructive since World War II, with its restrictions on humanitarian aid, both putting about 2 million Palestinians at risk of famine.
The coalition said militants were “kidnapped by Israeli forces” during their efforts to provide assistance.
“The ship was illegally boarded, its unarmed civilian crew was kidnapped, and life-saving cargo including infant formula, food and medical supplies were confiscated,” it said in a statement.
Israeli authorities say the mission is “a media provocation.”

“The 'selfie yacht' of “celebrity” is safely entering the coast of Israel,” the Israeli Foreign Ministry said in an article on X.
It also claimed that without providing any video evidence, aid is pouring into Gaza.
“In the past two weeks, 1,200 aid trucks have entered Gaza from Israel, and in addition, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation has distributed nearly 11 million meals directly to Gaza civilians,” the Post said.
According to the Associated Press, Israeli military spokesman Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani said the ship was still heading to Israel around noon on Monday.
Eventually, people on board, including Dunberg, will return to their home country.
