Mackled intruder thief Macklemore's Capitol Hill Home, spraying babysitter with bear spray
Seattle police said two masked men broke into the home of rapper Macklemore's Capitol Hill earlier Saturday, sprayed the babysitter with bear spray and stole thousands of dollars in valuables in their three children.
Officials responded to the home shortly before 1 a.m. after the caller reported an active theft involving a chemical attack.
The house, described by police as belonging to a “high-profile person”, matches the address listed in Macklemore's voter registration, although his name was deleted in the official report.
It is not clear whether the rapper was at home at the time.
According to the report, the nanny told the officer that she had just put the children in bed when the two entered through the terrace door.
One of the suspects used bear spray to spray her on her face, temporarily blinding her eyes.
The same suspect then tried to help her clean her eyes for reasons she described as “unexplained.”
The second invader demanded “jewelry” and the woman led them to find several valuable items.
Police said the suspect stole jewelry, watches and shoes, then pushed the woman down and picked up the phone.
The woman managed to bite a man and escape from the house.
She knocked on the neighbor's door until someone asked her to call 911.
Police said the surveillance video captured two suspects who left the home.
They both wore tactical-style vests, gloves and face covers.
The gun was not reported, and the nanny told the officer she had not seen any weapons.
Seattle police confirmed that “thousands of dollars of items” were stolen.
After breaking in, the three children were not hurt and were placed under the care of family members.
