Who is the only survivor of an Indian Airways crash, killing 241
An Air India commercial aircraft carrying more than 200 passengers crashed a few minutes after taking off from Gujarat, India on Thursday morning.
The Boeing 787-7 has 242 passengers and crew. Air India later said that 69 were Indian nationals, 53 were British nationals, 7 were Portuguese, and one Canadian national was joining.
All other places except one abroad were killed in a crash in a residential area in Ahmedabad, the largest Gujarat.
One of the surviving passengers was Vishwashkumar Ramesh.
Ramesh was photographed leaving the wreckage. He is an English national of the Indians.
“There was a loud bang in thirty seconds after takeoff and the plane crashed. It all happened,” Ramesh told the Hindustan Times on Thursday.

Ramesh visited India for a few days and returned to England, where he lived for twenty years.
“When I got up, there were bodies around. I was scared. I stood up and ran. I had a piece of the plane around me. Someone grabbed me, put me in an ambulance and took me to the hospital,” Ramesh told The Times of India.
Ramesh's brother Nayan Kumar said their father spoke to Vishwashkumar before the plane and took off to London Gatwick Airport in England.
“My father called him. Vishwash said, 'Oh, we'll take off soon,'” Nayan said in an interview with Sky News on Thursday.
“His video called me dad, and he crashed and said, 'Oh, the plane crashed. I don't know where my brother is. I can't see other passengers. I don't know I'm still alive – how I left the plane',” Nayan told the news channel.
Dr. Dhaval Gameti, who is treating Ramesh at Ahmedabad's Civil Hospital, told the Associated Press that Ramesh “had multiple injuries all over his body”.
“But he doesn't seem to be dangerous,” the doctor told the Associated Press.
Seat 11a
Ahmedabad Police Chief GS Malik told India News Asia News International News International that Ramesh was sitting in seat 11A in the emergency journey.
David Soucie, a former FAA safety inspector, told CNN that the 11A seat is “a place where the wing crystal will be in trouble, which will be a solid place for the plane to hit the ground, but it is surprising in terms of survival above it.”
