“Close Time”: White House, Border Patrol and Deportation Meme Video

On Monday, the official White House and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) X accounts released a meme video on Monday showing the deportation of the famous '90s song “Cloting Time”, a long-term staple at closing bars and weddings.

“This is the deadline. We are making the United States safe again,” CBP said in its post.

The video, released by the White House and U.S. Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks and Customs and Border Protection, shows authorities dealing with tethered illegal immigrants, singing the lead singer of “SEMMONIC” with “Semi-Finals” Dan Wilson, “You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here.”

The video was subsequently cut to show that Wilson sang “I know the guy I want to take me home” as agents deported on the plane, while the Border Patrol was clearly visible.

Since taking office as the Oval Office, President Donald Trump has made the border secure and combating illegal immigration one of his top priorities. Banks said in an interview with CBS in late February that crossings for illegal transit had fallen by 94%. Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security said last week that immigration and customs law enforcement arrested less than 33,000 illegal immigrants.

In addition, senior Trump administration officials confirmed to Fox News that a total of 261 illegal foreigners were deported to El Salvador on Saturday – 137 were passed through the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, 101 were removed through the Venezuelans, and 21 were members of the El Salvador MS-13 gang, two of which were MS-13 Ringleaders and “Salvador” officials.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt explained the video at a White House press conference Monday, saying “Summary of our immigration policy: You don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here.”

“The White House and our entire administration are clearly leaning towards the president's message, and we are not afraid to redouble our efforts and take on the responsibility and ownership of the serious decisions being made,” Levitt said. “The president was elected to the overwhelming task to launch the largest mass deportation campaign in U.S. history. That's exactly what he is doing.”

She said Trump continued to receive “overwhelming public support for the policies he set out” within 50 days of the administration.

“So we are not afraid to effectively communicate what the President is doing every day to make our community safer,” she explained.
