Shai Gilgeous-Alexander wins NBA Finals MVP

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a key player the Oklahoma City Thunder gained when he traded Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers before the 2019-20 season.

The Thunder took Gilgeous-Alexander's lead, but once the team saw Lu Dort, Jalen Williams, and eventually Chet Holmgren played together and stayed healthy, it turned out to be a complete game changer.

This ultimately led to the Thunder's Game 7 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Sunday night. Gilgeous-Alexander is already the regular season MVP and Western Conference Finals MVP, scoring 29 points in a 103-91 victory and 12 assists.

With his clutch performance, Gilgeous-Alexander won the Bill Russell MVP trophy, calling him the NBA Finals MVP. He scored 38 points in Game 1 and got the game in Game 2 of Oklahoma City's Need Tie Series. He scored 31 points in Game 5, pushing Indiana to the edge.

He raised the trophy ahead among a crowd in Oklahoma City.

He told ESPN's Lisa Salters that he told ESPN's Lisa Salters after winning the final MVP: “It's not just my victory for me. It's a victory for my family. It's a victory for my friends. It's a victory for fans – the best fans in the world.”

He led the NBA with 32.7 points per game on his way to winning his first NBA MVP of his career. This is his third consecutive season to become an All-Star.

Oklahoma City has a record of 68-14, which is the best in the NBA. This is the first championship since the team moved from Seattle to Oklahoma City. Supersonics won the NBA championship in 1979.
