A Brazilian tourist who fell hundreds of feet near an active volcano in Indonesia has died after four days of search and rescue efforts.

Juliana Marins, 26, guided Mount Linjani when she slipped and fell on the side of the mountain near Indonesia's second highest volcano on June 21.

Indonesian rescuers were finally able to arrive on the ship's body on June 24, according to the BBC.

“With great sorrow, we tell you she has not survived,” the Marlins family said in a statement on social media. “We are very grateful for all the prayers, feelings and support messages we have received.”

Indonesian authorities said on Monday that the ship was on the mountain and fell about 1,600 feet. According to the drone lens, she seemed to be motionless.

Marien's sister, Marianna, told Brazil's export Fantástico that her sister was abandoned by her guide over an hour before the fall.

By Tuesday, authorities said they were preparing to send helicopters to the ship, according to Muhamad Hariyadi, head of the search and rescue office of Mataram City.

Hariyadi called the rescue operation “very risky” and noted that Marins fell from the mountain instead of the crater. Hariyadi said soft sand in the area makes it difficult to retrieve and pickle with ropes.

Marins, originally located on Saturday, slipped on the sandy terrain of the cliff face, Hariyadi said. When she first discovered, she was at a depth of 150 meters, but had already slid to 500 meters by Monday morning.

“A rescuer managed to reach the victim at a depth of 600 meters after checking for signs of no life,” he told reporters.

Hariyadi said three rescuers approached Marins and confirmed she had passed away.

Efforts to search the ship's body will resume early Wednesday morning.

Indonesia's Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni said in a statement that the Rinjani hiking trail will be closed to ease evacuation efforts rather than respect for the dock and her family.

According to local media reports, several tourists have died in accidents while hiking the volcano in the past few years, including Malaysian tourists who also fell off the cliff last month.
