Now, a video has become popular, showing a gardener in Santa Ana appearing to be panicking and swinging the weeds before being resolved by CBP officials.

It can be seen that the immigration law enforcement officers in the video appear to be cracking down and on strike, the husband and father of three sons of the U.S. Marine Corps, while working on beautification outside an IHOP in Edinger and Ritchey in Santa Ana, California.

Due to questions about the alleged use of force by the agent, and the undocumented Barranco's attempt to cut down officials who tried to detain him or just tried to escape.

Santa Ana Mayor Valerie Amezcua posted her reaction video on Instagram after seeing what she called a “terrible video.”

“Now, this gentleman is being arrested by Icefield Agents and what I want to tell you is that I am very frustrated with the way they handle our community. The way they handle our community. This arrest looks so unprofessional and is not wrong in many ways. They are not here to protect us and serve these agents here in order to serve us here,” Amezcua said.

The Department of Homeland Security accused the media of erroneous mistakes and wrote on X that the man was trying to escape from law enforcement and allegedly began to swing weeds directly on the Border Patrol agent’s face.

“He attacked federal law enforcement with weed whip. Maybe mainstream media wants our officers to stand there instead of defending themselves? A totally slanted description of what is actually happening.”

In a statement to FOX 11, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin claimed that they had taken appropriate steps.

“The agency has taken appropriate action and, after training, to address the situation in a way that prioritizes the safety of the public and our officials,” the statement said.

But Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, a senior fellow at the Immigration Commission, said he disagreed with what the video depicts.

“The video shows him a vague weed whipster, waving weeds to people who are far beyond him, as he fled from the person he said, not even saying anything when he ran to him. It's not an attack based on any definition of the term. It's not worth the beating.”

GoFundMe, founded by Jacqueline Vasquez, said immigration officials handled Barranco's “disgusting”.
