An armed woman sat on a lawn chair in the middle of a busy Texas highway Thursday, causing an hour-long stalemate in law enforcement, causing traffic more than she eventually surrendered.
Harris County Police District 4 deputies responded to reports from an armed woman involved in a crash involving an 18-wheel crash involving the Texas spring I-45 South. The woman and the driver of the truck were not injured in the incident.

“She keeps it on her face, throat and head, so it's hard for us to get close to her and take the gun away,” Harris County Sheriff Ed Ed Gonzalez said in a news conference, according to Fox 26.
The sheriff said she was expressing suicidal thoughts.
“It was a very subtle situation throughout the ordeal,” he said. “She had some mental illness and she was dealing with it, so there was no rationality in terms of what happened. There was some mental history, so it was certain.”

“That's to let her do something stupid with us. Once she realizes her daughter is here, she's safe and she'll be allowed to see her again, and that's when it's going to be better.”
The woman eventually surrendered and was detained before being taken to a hospital for evaluation.
