More than 20 injuries included one person when the bus flipped in northeast Germany

BERLIN (AP) – A bus leading passengers from Denmark to Austria glided from a road in northern Germany and overturned on Friday, hurting more than 20 people, including one person, police said.

Police said the bus operated by Flixbus left the Autobahn motorway at the exchange leading to the city of Röbel, about 140 kilometers (85 miles) north of Berlin.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

According to Flixbus, 23 people carried 53 passengers and two drivers from Copenhagen to Vienna on the bus. Rescuers spent about two hours to extract one victim.

Emergency services, fire brigade and a rescue helicopter responded. Authorities blocked the area of ​​the road all Friday morning.

Flixbus said it was “very frustrated” and the bus crashed and said it was working with authorities to determine the cause of the incident.
