More than 20 children have disappeared in women's summer camp in Texas

On Friday, at least more than 20 people died in Texas, with more than 20 participating in summer camps.

As the public entered social media, the search team conducted boat and helicopter rescues in a fast-moving flood, desperate to get information about loved ones in the area.

During a press conference late Friday, Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha said 24 people were killed. Authorities said 237 people have been received so far, including 167 in helicopters.

The news came after at least 25 cm of rain, falling overnight in central Kerr County, causing flooding of a nearby river.

“Some are adults, some are children, and again, we don't know where these bodies come from,” said Texas Governor Dan Patrick.

The team conducted dozens of rescues, and emergency responders continued to search for those who were not blamed. These include more than 20 girls who disappeared from summer camp.

The missing children attended Christian camps along the Guadalupe River.

Patrick said helicopters, nine rescue teams and people on the ground were conducting large-scale searches. The search will continue overnight, he said.

Patrick said: “I asked people in Texas to pray seriously this afternoon. We found these young girls.

Local flood surveillance released Thursday estimated that the amount of isolated water was as high as 17 cm, but flood warnings were issued to at least 30,000 people overnight.

Texas Governor Greg Abbot said the state is providing resources to communities dealing with floods.

U.S. President Donald Trump described the mountain flood as “shocking” and “terrible” on Friday.
