Kavontae Turpin of Cowboys arrested on cannabis and Texas weapons charges

Dallas Cowboys receiver Kavontae Turpin was arrested for marijuana in Texas on Saturday.

According to the Dallas Morning News, a quick Dallas recipient and return expert faces a pair of misdemeanor charges after being arrested and booked into the Colin County Jail.

Turpin faces possession of marijuana and possession of illegal weapons, both of which are misdemeanors in Texas. Prison records also confirmed that Turpin was released on Sunday.

There are no other details about Turpin's incident, or whether he will face any discipline in the Cowboys or the NFL.

This is not the first time Turpin has dealt with off-field legal issues, as he was kicked out of the TCU Horned Frog Squad due to attack charges, and he pleaded guilty to going to college.

Turpin eventually graduated from college, he played in several leagues before eventually landing with the Cowboys in 2022.

He eventually found a solid home there, winning two pro bowls in his three seasons, mostly due to his ability to make the Magic happen on special teams.

Last season, he was a first-team global player last season, which was a touchdown-scoring tee rate of 904 yards in the league. He also received a return from the punt last season and 187 yards.

When Dak Prescott got the ball, Terpin also provided some breakout speed, dragging 420 yards on 31 catches and two touchdowns.

The Cowboys will open training camp on July 21 to start preparing for Week 1 – a “Thursday Night Football” round that kicks off the NFL season with Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
