A rock outing by a national park tourist turned a national park visitor deadly after authorities said the fall caused his death.
Brian Astle, 42, of Provo, Utah, fell a steep off-road climb from the west of Mount Gould inside Glacier National Park on Wednesday, National Park Service officials confirmed.
The accident happened before 6 p.m. on July 9, when the Glacier National Park dispatch received a report from people who fell off Gould Hill from above the High Line trail.
Park Rangers worked with air search and rescue personnel to find Astle. However, the operation was postponed overnight to ensure that Astle's body could be safely restored.

Back in August 2024, a missing climber was found dead after vanishing from his hiking party.
Grant Marcuccio, 32, of Whitefish, Montana, suffered from “traumatic injury” due to “obvious falls.” The National Park Service said.
“Marcuccio was separated from his party to the summit McPartland peak and planned to meet at designated locations,” officials said, but “the hiking party reminded Marcuccio that Marcuccio had never entered the meeting place.”
