oral genome is partnering with Harmony Health and United Concordia Dental to pilot its saliva testing technology. Three dental organizations in Pennsylvania have launched a pilot using Oral Genome's testing technology to expand access to preventive care in underserved communities.
North American Dental Group (NADG), Miracle Dental Associates and the Pittsburgh branch of the Westmoreland County Community College dental hygiene program will integrate Oral Genome's point-of-care saliva test and mobile app into their practices.
The test can be done in the office or at home and provides real-time insights into oral health risks such as tooth decay, gum disease and diabetes. Results are immediately available to patients and can be shared with dental and medical providers, supporting comprehensive preventive care.
“We joined this program because it directly supports our commitment to advancing preventive care and leveraging innovation in dentistry,” said Rafael Rondon, RDH, BS, NADG, vice president of clinical operations and health development. “By integrating oral genomics into our practice, we can better identify risk factors, increase uptake of periodontal and preventive treatments, and strengthen the bridge between oral and systemic health.”
The pilot program will include approximately 400 children and adults on Medicaid and will focus on those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Goals include increasing patient engagement, improving preventive care utilization and expanding access to important oral health
opinion. The findings will guide strategies to scale the successful approach nationwide, demonstrating how innovative saliva testing can improve outcomes, reduce emergency visits and lower long-term costs for families and payers.
