Happy Thanksgiving 2025! – Retire at age 40

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Wow, 2025 is a tumultuous year. Life in the RB40 family is pretty crazy, too. RB40Jr starts high school, Mrs. RB40 retires, “Retire at 40” blogs around sewer lines, aging parents dealing with health issues, kitchen remodels, increased cost of living, and more. Life can be overwhelming at times, but we all have to persevere. Fortunately, it's not all doom and gloom. I also have a lot to be thankful for.

healthy – RB40 Ms. and I are both in our early 50s. We had some health issues, but we were relatively healthy. We still go hiking and enjoy the outdoors. Unfortunately, our parents are aging and we see how declining health erodes their quality of life. That’s why we need to live life to the fullest while we still can.

RB40Jr is a good kid – RB40Jr is starting high school and he’s adjusting well. He joined the debate team, ultimate frisbee team and squash team. He gets along well with everyone and does well in his studies. It's wonderful to see our son grow up. I'm so thankful he didn't get into any big trouble.

Net worth hits record high – The economy has been particularly chaotic this year, but I can’t complain because our net worth is at an all-time high. It’s crazy to be able to do so well when so many others are struggling. For working people, life seems more difficult than ever. This is why everyone needs to start investing at a young age.

All in all, life is good. I have a defrosted duck in the freezer with a bottle of Prosecco next to it. Ms. RB40 will figure out both sides. We’ll be cooking a little feast to celebrate this crazy year. I hope you have a great week too. Happy Thanksgiving Day!
