My bike's homemade map stand

On request, I posted pictures of the handlebar map rack I made for the tour bike.

This is a thin piece of plywood (or whatever plywood you have, other wood, plastic, metal) to fit the standard AAA roadmap. It attaches to a mountain bike handlebar with goose feather stems. I drilled some holes and used two [white, see picture for positioning] Zipper attaches it to the stem. I cut a cut on the top to make room so that the handlebars are attached to the bolts on the stems, so the map holder is flat on the handlebars with little to no bend.

The map is secured to the wood with four rubber bands. Obviously, it doesn't work in the rain, but for this case it's easy to make a plastic cover. If it rains, just put the map into a Ziploc bag.

If this seems to work too much (actually not…two cut out with saw, four holes and some sandpaper), you can buy a similar map holder at REI for $20. This only cost a few cents.
