Missing Madalina Cojocari: NC police posts teenager photos of age

Charlotte, N.C. – North Carolina Police released a photo of missing seniors Friday, including Cornelius Girl Madalina Cojocari, who disappeared from her home on her birthday, November 14, 2022.
To this day, her disappearance has not been resolved and her parents, the main suspect in connection with her disappearance, have been released from prison. Her mother, Diana Cojocari, fled the country after she was released.
“Madalina's investigation began in December 2022,” said David Baucom, head of the Cornelius Police Department, in a video posted on the department's Facebook page on Friday. “Madalina's last time was removed on November 21, 2022. Today, Madalina's 14th birthday.”
“We hope Madalina and this community know that we are committed to solving this case. Our commitment has never wavered and we won't stop until we find Madalina.”

Authorities noted that a $25,000 reward was offered for arrest of people or persons who led to the arrest of Madalina's missing.
Although Madalina last appeared in public on November 21, 2022, she got off the car and her mother and stepfather Christopher Palmiter didn't report her missing until December 15, 2022, although they last told police that they last saw their daughter at home on the evening of November 23, 2022.

Diana told school officials and Cornelius Police that she had not seen her daughter, a sixth-grade student at Bailey High School, who was born in Moldova and went to the bedroom on November 23, 2022, about November 23, 2022, after she debated with Palmiter.

When Palmiter returned to Cornelius on November 26, Diana apparently asked where his daughter was. Palmit asked her the same question, the affidavit said.
It was not until a school truant report in the 11-year-old middle school that police discovered Madalina's disappearance.

Diana and Palmiter were arrested and charged with failing to report missing children in 2022.
Diana pleaded guilty after spending several months in prison in May 2024 and authorities released her.

The police can contact Diana was still in Cornelius after her release, but officials have since lost her exact whereabouts and have contacted federal authorities to help her track her overseas.
Diana lives in the United States with a green card. Baucom said last year that based on their investigation, until then, the Cornelius Police Department did not believe Madalina had ever left the United States, although they did not dismiss any possibility.

According to telephone records obtained by the Cornelius Police Department, the search warrant in the case suggested that Diana and her mother contacted a distant relative and asked if he would help him “smuggle” Diana and Madalina from Cornelius' home.
