Five people were injured in a swing chair accident in Bavaria

At least five people were injured in a spring-sleep ride in a swing chair in the southern German city of Bayreuth, police said Monday.

A police spokesman said three of them suffered moderate injuries while two were slightly injured. Among them, four minors and one adult was reported. Previously, police mentioned six injured people.

The trip was reportedly run with several people on Monday evening. During the descent, the swing chair is said to be too fast. Due to the large radius, they collided with several surrounding lights and advertising racks.

Initial findings suggest that technical flaws prevented swing chairs from slowing down.

Many rescuers reportedly were at the market site.

After the incident, the Spring Festival in Bavaria City continued, with only the area around the rocking chair wheel blocked.

The Red Cross has established nursing centers for any further potential harm. Witnesses are asked to contact the police. An expert has been introduced to the investigation.

Before the festival begins, rides are usually thoroughly inspected by external experts. However, while accidents usually have no serious consequences, accidents occur occasionally.

At the Oktoberfest in Munich in 2023, some people were slightly injured in a collision between two roller coasters. There were no serious consequences at the end of the incident: the affected person received outpatient care. On a family roller coaster, one car rolls into another at low speed.

In August 2022, a fatal accident occurred at the Klotten Amusement Park in Koshim, Western Rhineland-Patnat State. A 57-year-old woman died of falling from a moving roller coaster. According to a report by the TüV Safety Committee, roller coasters are technically safe at the time of the incident.
