Israel calls on thousands of reserve personnel to participate in the Gaza war

According to media reports, Israeli armed forces sent call notifications to thousands of reserve personnel before deciding whether to expand the attack in the Gaza Strip.

YNET Israeli news website reports that a major offensive may begin in the coming days.

Israeli security cabinet will discuss the expansion of the Gaza war on Sunday. According to Israeli media reports, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed in principle to such a plan.

The Gaza War was triggered by an unprecedented Israeli attack led by Hamas, with about 1,200 people killed and more than 250 people kidnapped to the coastal areas on October 7, 2023.

According to Israel, 35 of the 59 hostages still in Gaza are no longer alive.

Israel is seeking to increase attacks on Palestinian militant group Hamas to free the rest of the hostages.

The Israeli military resumed the attack on the Gaza Strip on March 18 after a ceasefire that lasted for nearly two months.

The Jerusalem Post reported that the planned mobilization was huge, but it was still much greater than the one launched immediately after the October 2023 attack.

Init said some reserve personnel will replace conventional forces currently deployed on the northern border or the West Bank so that they can be sent to the Gaza Strip again.

The expansion of the attack is likely to further exacerbate the desperate situation in the Gaza Strip, with conditions described by aid organizations as disastrous.

Israel has blocked aid supplies from entering the closed zone of about 2 million Palestinians for two months.

Israeli attack kills 11 people in Gaza

An Israeli air strike in a building in the southern Gaza Strip killed at least 11 people, including women and children, a spokesman for Hamas-controlled Civil Protection Agency said Saturday.

An Israeli military spokesman confirmed the area's attack on what she said was Hamas terrorists.
