A boy was killed in a shooting in Compton Park Friday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
According to a statement, the shooting occurred in the 2100 block of Oris Street shortly after 4 p.m. The shooter remains spacious.
Although sheriff’s officers did not provide the boy’s age, CBS News reported that the victim was 12 years old and was shot dead in FIG/Oleander Park near the intersection of Oris Street and Oleander Avenue.
Aerial videos at the scene showed that crime videotapes were set up around the park and law enforcement vehicles were parked on the street.
The sheriff's department said the victim was taken away by firefighters and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
