Late night mob wreak havoc in downtown Los Angeles, tag buildings, trains

Crowds gathered at midnight on Washington Avenue and Maple Avenue.

It is unclear why dozens of people gathered at the intersection south of downtown Los Angeles, but some wore parties, wearing pink platform heels and cat ears. A man swallowed from a canister full of flammable liquid, and he spitted onto the torch and threw the flames into the night sky.

As the helicopter circled over his head, a man in a leather jacket climbed up the light pole and perched on the road sign. He took out his cell phone and seemed to photograph himself talking in front of the camera.

People stood near police cruisers that were destroyed early Sunday morning.

The crowd turned to a line train that stopped along the route of Washington Boulevard. According to the videotape, vandals in the crowd began spraying trains on windows and hammering them.

LAPD spokesman Kevin Terzes said the Los Angeles Police Department was reminded by a caller Sunday at 12:12 a.m., who said five male suspects entered the train and were destroying the Interior Department.

The video shows dozens of LAPD officers caught black and green riot guns and fired foam bullets in a skirmish across from the mob.

At 12:19 a.m., LAPD received a “destructive” call from another person on the train on Washington Avenue and Trinity Street.

No one was arrested on any phone call, the official said. It is not clear whether LAPD has arrested anyone shown in the team, arresting Panda Express, Waba Grill, dialysis center and the exterior walls of medical clinics on video spray paint.

Some of the people in the crowd pose for selfies next to the sprayed LAPD cruiser. Video shows them cursing the police, throwing fireworks, and kicking the police car as the police drove away.

Subway spokesman Jose Ubaldo said the train service was delayed by about 20 minutes, with about 50 people blocking southbound and northbound trains on Washington Boulevard and midnight Maple Street.

Ubardo said in a statement that the vandals sprayed the exterior and interior of the train, but no passengers or subway employees were injured.

He asked anyone with information about this incident, please call LAPD at (800) 222-8477.
