Lagarde says euro could become a replacement for the dollar

“The ongoing change creates openness for the global euro moment, which is the main opportunity for Europe to control its own destiny more. But let's not deceive ourselves. This is not a privilege because of our identity, what we represent, the values we have to stick to. Yes, but with the right policy response, there may be opportunities.
Investors around the world have been reducing their impact on dollar assets in recent months due to instability in the U.S. economic policy, but many have chosen gold but have not seen a direct choice.
The dollar's role has been declining for many years and now accounts for 58% of international reserves, the lowest in decades, but still above the 20% share of the euro.
She said Europe should make the euro the currency of choice for companies to issue international trade. This could support this by establishing new trade agreements, enhanced cross-border payments, and liquidity agreements with the ECB.
