3 cities in Texas land on top 10 best live lists in U.S. News – They're all suburbs

The latest news and world reports in the United States are ranked among the 250 best places to live in the United States, and we can only say that the Live Music Capital is not the headlines that list the charts. While several of our Central Texas neighbors are in the top 30, Austin seems to be strolling leisurely to No. 164. Maybe we are just trying to get it?

These rankings will be based on a combination of public data and user opinions, from home affordability to desirability. So if you've been complaining about transportation or the price of a good single-family home, congratulations, your feedback will be heard.

Central Texas suburbs beat Austin and rank in the top 30 in the national rankings

John Pittman crossed the bridge over the Lake Pfurgerville Dam on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. Central Texas continues to experience hot weather throughout the week.

Our more suburban counterparts obviously thrived. Leander is a small engine that could make the 8th position, with a median household income that could make the downtown apartment owner cry ($131,822, for those who score at home).

Behind, Pflugerville is in 15th place, and Cedar Park on the 23rd, proving that shorter commuting times for HEB is the real secret to quality of life. Even Round Rock, with a strong export shopping mall and beloved baseball team, has won a considerable 28th place.

Here are the top 30 attractions in Central Texas cities:

  • 8. Leander – Population: 77,556. Median household income: $131,822

  • 15. Pflugerville- Population: 66,278. Median household income: $118,047

  • 23. Cedar Park – Population: 77,959. Median household income: $124,554

  • 28. Round Rock – Population: 128,111. Median household income: $101,663

El Paso, Georgetown

Within the scope of the list, we found a massive drop in the new Braunfels (77), Georgetown (113), and then El Paso (107).

Meanwhile, Austin, with nearly a million residents and a median household income of $96,149, seems to have overwhelmed everything that makes Austin and Austin.

Our “net migration” may be booming, but apparently, public surveys prioritize traffic that our rapidly expanding metropolis are struggling to keep up with half the waking time.

Here are some of the top 200 attractions in Texas:

  • 107. ElPaso- Population: 666,841. Median household income: $57,754

  • 113. Georgetown – Population: 80,185. Median household income: $99,965

  • 164. Austin – Population: 997,670. Median household income: $96,149

Texas Metropolitan Metropolis Ranking

Then there are Fort Worth (212th) and San Antonio (236th). It seems that the bigger the city, the more indicators of punishment there are.

  • 212. Fort Worth – Population: 982,203. Median household income: $77,336

  • 236. San Antonio – Population: 1,467,811. Median household income: $64,957

So while we continue to embrace our weirdness and cheers in the thriving music world, it seems that other parts of the country (or at least respondents) prefer the “keep weird” approach to fulfilling their life arrangements.
