The state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said an inmate was evacuated from a fire camp in Los Angeles County several hours later, the second incident in California last week.
The 33-year-old inmate Angel Gaxiola was found missing at the Holden Conservation Camp in the northeastern mountainous area of Sylmar at about 9 p.m. Sunday.
Mountain police arrested Garciola and called local law enforcement about 8 a.m. Monday, the department said. Prison officials did not disclose where Garciola was arrested, but Silma was about 50 miles from the Heights.
