A cargo ship ran aground and almost crashed into Norway's doorstep

The cargo ship did not reach John Herberg's doorstep, but it was close enough.
The Norwegian man told BBC News: “Five metres south, it will enter the bedroom.
“That wasn’t particularly pleasant.”
Herberg told Norwegian broadcaster NRK that he had slept the whole thing-the neighbor rang a doorbell in an attempt to get his attention.
Trondheim Fiord is 130 kilometers long and is the third largest canyon in Norway.
Shocking sight, and “half awake”
Jestein Jørgensen, who lives nearby, saw the ship as he sailed to the shore.
He told Norwegian TV2: “I only woke up and heard the boat I thought was passing by, so I just wanted to get up and look at the bathroom window.”
A cargo ship, NCL Salten, ran aground earlier Thursday near Trendheim in southwestern Norway. Neighbors who saw the incident unfolded told Norwegian journalists about his efforts to warn the crew without any result.
Jorgensen whistled with his arms, but that didn't help.
Norwegian police said 16 people were on board the ship during the crash. No injuries or spills were reported.
Shipping company NCL said it is collaborating to investigate the incident.
In a statement released online, police said someone was subsequently charged with negligence in navigation. A crew member was allegedly asleep.
“The person charged was the official at the time of the incident,” Prosecutor Kjetil Bruland Sørensen said in a police statement.
“During the inquiry, he said he fell asleep alone while on duty, which caused the ship to get stranded.”
The statement said police do not intend to provide further updates to the investigation over the weekend.
