A Lufthansa flight was flying for 10 minutes after the co-pilot suffered medical problems alone in the cockpit.
The incident occurred on February 17, 2024, while the Airbus A321 aircraft was translated from Frankfurt, Germany to Sevilla, Spain from Frankfurt, Germany to Sevilla, Spain, according to a translation report by the Spanish Civil Aviation Accidents and Incidents Investigation Commission (CIAIAC).
The report noted that there were six crew members and 199 passengers at the time.

“The captain decided to land at the nearest airport in an emergency. This allowed the co-pilot to receive medical assistance as soon as possible,” the report added.
The Associated Press said the pilot made an “unplanned landing” in Madrid, and the report listed the Spanish city as the site of the incident.
“The sudden and severe inability of the co-pilot is a symptom of a disease not found during a pilot or aviation medical examination,” the translation report said.

Lufthansa said its flight safety department also investigated the incident, but the company cited DPA's citations, but the company did not disclose the results. The airline said it was aware of the CIAIAC report, the news agency said.
Lufthansa did not respond immediately when contacting people for more information.
