Ancient Greek seminar reveals unfinished sculptures from archaeological discoveries

Archaeologists recently excavated an ancient workshop in Greece, revealing a series of unfinished projects and other curiosities.

The project was announced by the Greek Ministry of Culture in a Facebook post in May. Officials said in a statement from Greek to English that the excavation was conducted on the archaeological site of Flag on the Greek island of Paros.

Although the workshop is not surprising – archaeologists have been studying the site since the mid-1980s, excavators have found many interesting findings in the latest excavation process.

Recent undiscovered artifacts at the site include unfinished marble sculptures, clay stamps and various pottery fragments.

“The movable discovery aroused great interest, including semi-formal marble sculptures, mainly Aphrodite, clay heads of female figures as well as clay molds and stamps, while a large collection of pottery was collected,” the statement said.

According to their observations, archaeologists found the site was reorganized at the end of the third century BC, both as a residential space and sculpture studio.
