Apple keeps it simple in AI, unveiling the redesign of “liquid glass”

Story: Apple doesn't seem to be in a hurry to artificial intelligence.

The tech giant launched a series of upgrades to its AI technology on Monday.

But analysts say they are more progressive than revolutionary, focusing on tools that help everyday life.

This includes real-time translation of phone calls and messages.

The relatively minor change happened a year after Apple's bold vision for AI, but then failed to make the promised upgrade to upgrade its Siri Voice Assistant.

An observer told Reuters that the company now appears to be focusing on making sure it can deliver on those promises rather than making new claims.

But Apple is indeed big news for developers, and he says it will open up its AI model to them.

Craig Federighi, senior vice president of the company, said the change would offer huge opportunities for third-party applications:

“We think this will inspire a completely new smart experience in the apps you use every day. For example, if you’re ready for an exam, an app like Kahoot can create personalized quizzes from your notes to make learning more engaging.”

The strategy is similar to Microsoft's unveiling last month.

Technologist Carolina Milanesi said it will inspire application creators:

“This is the most important tool they can deliver to developers so that they can take advantage of Apple Intelligence in a secure and private way, and for smaller developers, especially, they can do so without the additional cost of using the model in the cloud.”

Apple has also announced a new design language for its operating system, called “liquid glass.”

This makes the icons and menu parts transparent.

The company said it adds liquidity and expressiveness to the user experience.
