At least 14 people were killed and dozens were injured in Russia's strike against Kiev
Ukrainian officials said at least 14 people were killed in Russia's attack in Kiev city and more than 40 were injured.
Russian drones and missiles targeted 27 locations in the capital overnight, damaging residential buildings, educational institutions and critical infrastructure, the country's interior minister Igor Klymenko said.
He added that this is one of the biggest attacks on the city since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Meanwhile, the Moscow Ministry of Defense said Russian air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 147 Ukrainian drones.
According to Ukrainian MP Lesia Vasylenko, the “massive” bombing of Kiev lasted for nine hours. “Wake up in a nightmare: people trapped under rubble and intact buildings,” she wrote on X.
Clementko said the rescue team is still working to free the people.
According to Reuters, the alarm for the air strikes is still in effect more than seven hours after the announcement of the air strike.
“More strikes on residential buildings in Kiev by Russian drones,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's chief of staff Andriy Yermak wrote in a telegram. “Russia is continuing its war on civilians.”

Other parts of the country were also under attack. According to Clemento, at least one person was killed and another 10 were injured after Odesa in the south was targeted by a massive drone attack.
Ukraine's emergency services said in a telegram that people were worried that people would still be trapped under the ruins.
Ukraine and Russia have continued to launch drone attacks in recent weeks as direct dialogue on warfare failed to obtain a ceasefire or a major breakthrough.

The war has been invaded for more than three years since Russia launched its invasion in February 2022. Currently, it controls about 20% of the Ukrainian region, including the Crimean Peninsula, which it annexed in 2014 after overthrowing Ukraine's pro-Russian president.
