Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape, British police said on Friday.

The party has also been charged for a sexual assault, with the alleged crime between 2021 and 22.

Partisan lawyer Jenny Wiltshire told the British Press Association that he “denied all charges against him” and added: “He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.”

The 32-year-old party is a free agent after Arsenal's contract expires after the end of last season. He joined the Premier League club in 2020, earning £45.3 million (US$61.8 million) from Atletico Madrid. Police said the investigation was investigated when the rape report was first received in February 2022. The five rape charges are linked to two different women. The sexual assault charge is related to a third woman. “Our priority remains to support women who stand up,” said Andy Furphy, the Metropolitan Police Detective Chief.

The party will appear in Westminster District Court on Tuesday, August 5.
