California dad starts fire while running after egg

A San Mateo man allegedly opened fire on an SUV carrying three high school students who poured oil on the porch and laid eggs.

Craig Miceli, 54, told police that his daughter was a victim of ongoing bullying in her high school and that he was angry at the antics of the mischief, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.

The boys — two aged 16 and 17 — targeted the St. Mateo House, a female classmate they didn't like Hillsdale High School, prosecutors said.

First, they spread the oil on the front porch of Merkley on Friday. Then, they returned early Sunday morning, and each person threw an egg in his home.

According to DA's office, Miceli fought the Valley with lead and allegedly fired two shots on the boy's SUV, one of which hit the panel above the front passenger side wheel.

Prosecutors said he told police he had already had to spend time cleaning the oil from the porch before the egg incident, so he angrily grabbed the gun and fired at the boy's car tire. He then threw his weapon into Water Dog Lake, Meckley said.

Police later obtained a search warrant and retrieved an illegal automatic rifle and several ammunition from his home.

Miceli is charged with three counts of assault with a firearm, one counts of shooting on an occupied vehicle and two counts of illegal assault weapon. He was arraigned in San Mateo High Court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The court issued a protection order that prohibits Merkley from liaison with teenagers. According to the DA's office, his bail is set at $25,000 and he will return to court for a preliminary trial on June 9.
