Canada deploys “crisis emergency response” as Iran-Israel strike continues – Country

As the conflict between Israel and Iran worsens in the days after the U.S. strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities, the Canadian government is deploying a “crisis emergency response” in the Middle East.

The response will include 24-7 aid and consular access for Canadians in the region, Canada Global Affairs said in a statement late Sunday night.

This is because the United States also issued a “global caution” alert for its foreign citizens.

Canada also offers a starting option for Canadians who want to leave Israel or the West Bank, as the crisis has intensified and will also support those who want to leave Iran.

Canadian Global Affairs Corporation said Sunday's plan to leave Israel must be postponed until Monday. It added that the Canadian government is “communicating regularly with Canadians in Iran, Israel and the West Bank.”

“We continue to work closely with international partners and explore all available avenues to assist Canadians,” Canada Global Affairs said in a statement.

The Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) also temporarily stopped evacuating Israel.

“This measure is taking on turmoil and unpredictable situations in Israel due to ongoing hostilities with Iran,” the agency said in a statement on Monday.


This order does not apply to individuals who do not accept it against Canada on the grounds of crime, serious crime, international or human rights violations, organized crime or security.

The U.S. attacked three Iranian nuclear sites on Sunday, raising concerns about wider regional conflict. Canada Global Affairs Incident said that in view of Canada's U.S. strike, “in close collaboration with our international partners, mission security postures are being reviewed throughout the region.”

Ottawa's Canadian Global Affairs Headquarters has added a surge in capacity at its 24/7 Emergency Watch Centre to meet the demands of Canadians in the Middle East to seek emergency consular support.

Twenty members of the GAC Station Quick Deployment Team have been deployed in Israel, the West Bank, Jordan, Turkiye, Azerbaijan, Greece, Cyprus and Armenia. They will join hundreds of Canadian government personnel to provide ground assistance to Canadians in the region.

Canadians in Iran should “leave now”

Canadians in the region are encouraged to register with Canadians abroad. This will provide them with regular updates regarding the development of the region, including travel options to leave the region.

Canadians are asking Iranian Canadians to “leave immediately” because Canada cannot provide assistance within Iran.

“Canada closed its embassy in Tehran in 2012, and the country does not have a Canadian government office. As a result, our ability to provide consular services in Iran remains extremely limited,” the department said.
