China warns us that the “golden dome” can ignite the space weapons race – Country
A foreign ministry spokesman said on Wednesday that China is “very concerned” about the U.S. Golden Dome missile defense shield project and urged Washington to abandon its development.
U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday he chose the design of the $175 billion project and appointed a space captain to the ambitious plan to stop threats from China and Russia.

When asked about the project at regular press conferences, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said it had “strong offensive significance” and increased the risk of militarization of outer space and arms races.
“In pursuing the 'U.S. first' policy, the United States has been seeking absolute security. This violates the principle that the security of all countries should not be compromised and undermines the global strategic balance and stability. China is very concerned about this,” said Mao.
She urged Washington to abandon the development of the system as soon as possible and take action to strengthen trust among major powers.
