Photos show the consequences of “catastrophic” floods in Texas

As first responders continued to take what Texas Governor Greg Abbott called the “24/7” rescue work, found those lost in the Guadalupe River along severe floods, a community remained in chaos, vehicles were overturned, buildings were unrecognized, and roads could not be ignored.

Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha said the death toll after flooding in and around Kerr County was 27 as of Saturday, July 5.

The flood also caused the camper Mystic camp, a Christian girl camp along the edge of the Guadalupe River, to go missing. Kerrville City Manager Dalton Rice said there were 27 missing campers at the camp as of Saturday morning.

Camp Mystic is located in Kerr County, central Texas, about 60 miles northwest of San Antonio. Another woman's camp said that several miles along the river, its directors were killed in the flood. Hill Camp said it was not at the meeting, and most of the people at the camp were explained when the flood occurred, but camp officials received news of the death of director Jane Ragsdale.

Rice said the number of people still missing is unclear, adding that officials cannot start estimating the actual number as there may be uncertain numbers visiting the area on vacation. Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said five confirmed victims were from Harris County, where Houston is located.

“All in Texas is affected by this tragic event,” Hidalgo wrote in a post on Friday, July 4.
