Driver crashed in Santee Alley, Los Angeles; 3 of 3 injured children

The driver of a minivan crashed into a group of people in downtown Los Angeles Sunday afternoon, hurting nine people, including three children, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred at 3:15 p.m., in the popular souk market in the fashion district.

Emergency officials said seven of the patients, including three children, were in fairness in the crash in the 300 block of East 12th Street. Two people were released as “opposing medical advice,” the fire department statement said.

Injured people include pedestrians. It is not clear whether the driver was injured or if there were injured passengers in the van.

The crash site is located in the 300 block of East 12th Street in downtown Los Angeles.

Ministry of Transport workers are on site to close and redirect traffic.

It is not clear what caused the minivan to crash.

Live video and on-site images released Sunday showed a silver minivan on the sidewalk that appeared to have crashed into several concrete barriers. A yellow and red awning also appeared to have partially collapsed by the van, and the bread was surrounded by yellow police tape.
