Drone strikes suspected to hit prison, at least 20 people killed in Sudan – Country

On Saturday, a drone strike launched by Sudan's paramilitary rapid support force attacked a prison in the southern part of Kodofan on Saturday and killed at least 20 prisoners.
Information Minister Khalid Aleiser said in a statement that fifty other detainees were injured in the attack on Obeid’s main prison.
Aleiser, also a spokesman for the military government, accused the attack of the swift support force, a strike by militia escalating drones against military-owned areas across the country.
Sudan fell into a civil war on April 15, 2023, when tensions between the military and the RSF exploded in the capital Khartoum and other parts of the country. Obeid is located 363 km (225 miles) south of Khartoum.

The RSF did not immediately comment, which launched a multi-day drone attack on the Port of Sudan, a temporary seat for the Sudan government earlier this month. These strikes hit the city's airports, maritime ports and other facilities, including fuel storage.
The military earlier attacked Nyala Airport in southern South Darfur, where the RSF received foreign military assistance, including drones. Local media said dozens of RSF officials were killed during the strike last week.
The ER tracking activity room said that in western Darfur, western Darfur, the RSF attacked at least 14 people in a camp on Friday, in a camp. The group said the deceased included two parents, their eight children and the child's grandmother.
The RSF conducted almost daily attacks on El-Fasher, the capital of the provincial capital of North Darfur, with paramilitary personnel trying to seize for more than a year.
Last month, the RSF passed through the camp of Zamzam, the largest displaced man in Sudan, killing more than 400 people. The militia controlled the camp and pushed its population to flee.
The war killed at least 24,000 people, although the number may be much higher. It has deported about 13 million people from their homes, including 4 million people passing through neighboring countries. Parts of the country have been pushed into famine.
