Wanda Barzee, one of the convicted kidnappers of Elizabeth Smart, saw from ear to ear smile in a new photo about the Utah sex offender registry.

Under Utah law, in Utah, sex offenders must register twice a year and then register six months to six months later.

Nearly 20 years after she was convicted of possession of a seven-month smart captive, Barzee, 79, was arrested on May 1 after allegedly violating the restrictions of a sex offender.

In 2002, Barzee and her husband, Brian David Mitchell, A 14-year-old smart man kidnapped At Knifepoint, she was captured for nine months. Mitchell forced Smart into a polygamous “marriage” and raped her almost every day. Smart is rescued when a couple realizes she walks through Barzee and Mitchell in the suburbs of Salt Lake City. Initially, out of fear, Smart denied her identity when questioned by police, but later admitted that she was the missing teenager. Barzee and Mitchell were subsequently arrested.

It was “What America wants most” and aired an episode about Smart's 2002 kidnapping, which led to her being recognized by a couple who found out she was walking with the kidnapper.

After several hearings, Barzee was sentenced to 15 years in prison for serious kidnapping. She worked with the FBI and Utah to sentence Mitchell to life imprisonment.

“Going back and being with my family is everything I dreamt about,” she told Fox News Digital earlier. “All I want is to get it home, feel love again, feel safe again. I want to get the courage, sounds like clichés, follow my dreams. These are not luxury dreams. I want to go to high school, get my driver’s license, go to a prom, go to a date, first date, go to college, go to college, get married, have a family.”

In 2018, Barzee was released from prison, and in addition to being registered as a sex offender, he was also released under federal supervision. She was ordered not to contact Smart's family.

According to the Utah Legislature, if there are restrictions required by the victim, the sex offender cannot be within 1,000 feet of the victim’s residence.

Smart is three married mothers, but her story is far from over. She is a child safety activist who often speaks on behalf of missing and exploited children. She also worked with “What America wants the most” as a guest speaker for the episode “What America wants the most: Missing Persons.”
