Florida woman accused of attacking elderly Trump supporters wearing magazine hats

A Florida woman faces multiple charges allegedly attacking a 72-year-old man who wore a hat that “makes America great again” earlier this week.
Laura Garrett, 33, was arrested by the Lago Police Department on Tuesday for assaulting a person over 65, assaulting police officers and obstructing or resisting officers without violence, according to reports from Pinellas County prison records.
Garrett admitted she approached the man at Northeast Park and Paw Place, asking him about President Donald Trump and why she supported him.

The arrest report said the two had a dispute at some point in the confrontation after Garrett poured a can, she held the victim's head and hit the back of his head and shoulder area with it, though Garrett denied that she hit him with the can.
Police said she jumped up and walked away after attacking the man.

Later, she was found by police, who allegedly fought with them while trying to arrest her.

The arrest report states that Garrett intentionally fell to the ground when the officer handcuffed her, and when an officer tried to escort her to the front of the park, she wrapped her legs around him and caused him to fall.

At the time of the incident, the officer's knee was bruised, which was what prompted the second battery charge.
Police said she continued to kick and exit the arrest.

Jail records show Garrett was booked at the Pinellas County jail but was released Wednesday night.
