German Ambassador to Ukraine leads foreign intelligence services

The DPA was told on Wednesday that German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jäger will become the new president of the country's Foreign Intelligence Agency.

The 60-year-old will replace Bruno Kahl as head of the Federal Intelligence Agency (BND).

Government sources told the DPA that the German cabinet made a decision on Wednesday.

Top diplomat Jäger has extensive experience in crisis areas, principals and business.

His 62-year-old predecessor, Kahl, has been the president of BND since 2016.

Now, he will be the German representative of the Roman church, and he has reportedly been seeking for some time.

BND is one of three German intelligence agencies, as well as the Protection Office of the Federal Constitution that focuses on domestic intelligence, as well as military counterintelligence services specializing in armed forces.
