Goff beats top-ranked Sabalenka to win her first French Open Championship

Coco Gauff won the French Open for the first time in Saturday's finals.

No. 2 Gauff appeared in a game full of tension and dynamic fluctuations, after the 2023 U.S. Open, where she also beat Sabalenka from the final.

It was the first first-placed women's final in Paris since 2013, when Serena Williams beat Maria Sharapova and second in the past 30 years.

After Sabalenka issued a backhand width at Gauff's second match point, the 21-year-old American fell on her back, covered her face with both hands, and placed her forehand on clay. After greeting Sabalenka, she hugged the film director Spike Lee and celebrated with her entourage, losing three years in her first final at Roland-Garros.

Sabalenka began a strong decision to stick to her high-stakes approach to keeping her first service.

Gauff's response raised his own level, winning a superb rally in the third game, which drew cheers and applause from the crowd. After a fierce shot exchange, Goff hit a shot and Sabalenka made a shot between the legs before intercepting it online and ending with the winner.

Gauff stayed consistent from a baseline perspective and got a breakout point, and when Sabalenka doubled off-road, she converted to lead 2-1. Sabalenka turned to her box and shouted in frustration, but then returned to calm, regaining the game 3-3.

However, she was broken by love again, Gauff lasted 2 hours in a game and scored two hits after 38 minutes.
