Cancer survivor DJ Daniel, 13, was sworn in as a U.S. Park Policeman

DJ Daniel, a teenage boy appointed as Secret Service agent during a speech to Congress in March, was sworn in.

Interior Minister Doug Burgum helped cancer survivor Daniel swore in Sunday to meet his goal of sworn in with 1,000 law enforcement agencies.

Daniel then had the opportunity to patrol the National Mall after the swearing-in ceremony.

The agency said he “expressed the highest honor, integrity and service” during his patrol.

Daniel made headlines nationwide when he acknowledged he was an honorary Secret Service agent in a joint speech to Congress on March 4.

He had the opportunity to visit the Secret Service Training Center on March 19, where he joined Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Secret Service Director Sean Curran on the latest graduation class before visiting the facility.

Daniel was diagnosed with brain and spinal cancer in 2018 and was diagnosed for five months, according to his father Theodis. Since then, he has performed more than 13 brain surgeries, which is also part of a study.

His father said Daniel “beats the odds.”

Daniel shared a simple message last month when visiting the Secret Service Training Center.

He said, “Be faithful. Believe in God. Listen to your parents.”

The Daniel family is still busy with plans to visit more law enforcement agencies across the country.

As of March 29, Daniel has been sworn in by 914 institutions. Although he hasn't reached 1,000 goals yet, he sets a record because it has the most city keys and the most “Announcement Days”.
