Hamas says at least 60 people have died in Gaza in the past 24 hours
Palestinian reports said that in the past 24 hours, at least 60 people were killed in the Gaza Strip due to Israeli air strikes.
The Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health also said 284 people were injured during the same period. The ministry did not distinguish between combatants and civilians.
This information cannot be verified independently.
According to the ministry, current figures do not include victims registered in hospitals in the northern coastal areas of war-torn, and access remains restricted due to ongoing combat.
The Israeli military has not commented on the latest report on the attack in Gaza.
According to Palestinian figures, more than 54,300 people have been killed and more than 124,000 have been injured since the beginning of the Gaza War, which was caused by an unprecedented Hamas-led Israeli attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
Two weeks ago, the Israeli military launched a new major offensive in Gaza. Dozens of people have died every day over the past few days.
The purpose of Israel's announcement is to destroy the Palestinian Islamic militia Hamas and release the hostages they still hold in the Gaza Strip. Israel's actions have been criticized internationally.
Witkov refuses Hamas to reply to ceasefire plan
U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff rejected Hamas' reply to the ceasefire plan.
He added: “Hamas should accept the framework proposal we proposed as the basis for approaching negotiations and we can start immediately next week.”
The U.S. proposal stipulates that the Gaza Strip releases 10 hostages from the Gaza Strip and the remains of 18 other Hamas victims to Israel during the 60-day ceasefire. In return, Israel's Palestinian prisoners will be released.
Hamas has agreed to the core elements of the proposal, as it announced on the Telegram channel. At the same time, however, Islamists are developing further conditions.
According to information obtained by the DPA from Hamas circles, Islamists demanded the release of hostages longer than the documents provided by US mediators. They also hope that Israeli troops will withdraw from the Gaza Strip on a more comprehensive scale after the ceasefire takes effect.
Under the Witkoff plan, the two sides will negotiate the release of the remaining hostages in exchange for a war during the 60-day ceasefire.
Israel also immediately rejected Hamas' response. Benjamin Netanyahu's office said Israel will continue to work hard to take the hostages and defeat Hamas.
Israel believes that 20 to 23 hostages are still alive and at least 35 kidnappers are detained.
United Nations agency: Trucks with aid goods attack in Gaza
Many hungry people in the Gaza Strip stopped, stormed in and plundered 77 trucks, on their way from the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) to the distribution center, the Rome-based agency released on Saturday.
“After nearly 80 days of lockdown, the community has starved to death – they are no longer willing to watch food,” the statement said.
“Restore hope, alleviate fear and prevent further chaos, we must flood the community with food – now. Only consistent large-scale aid can rebuild trust.”
WFP noted that it has the ability to do so: “WFP has enough food to feed all 2.2 [million] People lasted for two months,” the post on X further stated.
However, this requires a secure transportation route in the Gaza Strip, a faster approval process from Israel and eventually a ceasefire in the Gaza conflict, which has been underway for nearly 20 months.
After months of lockdown of aid delivery, Israel has allowed a small amount of goods to enter the sealed coastal areas.
The lockdown aims to increase pressure on the Hamas movement to release the rest of the hostages. In addition, the government accused Hamas of stealing aid goods to make money, which Hamas denied.
First, Israel is now keen to ensure that UN organizations and other independent players no longer deal with aid in the Gaza Strip, but through a controversial basis supported by the United States.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation established some distribution centers in the southern part of the region earlier this week and claimed that 3.8 million meals had been allocated.
The United Nations organization suspects that the new foundation will be able to provide full supply of the population in the Gaza Strip.
