Hamas says this is ready for a comprehensive ceasefire agreement
Palestinian Islamic group Hamas is ready for a full ceasefire agreement with Israel, according to a statement Saturday.
“We don't want a partial agreement, but a comprehensive solution to end the war,” Hamas officials told Palestinian journalists.
He added that as part of the agreement, Islamists will release all Israeli hostages in exchange for Israel’s Palestinian prisoners.
Earlier Saturday, a delegation of senior Hamas figures held talks with Cairo and Egyptian mediators.
Egypt, Qatar and the United States acted as mediators in indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas, which have been stalled for weeks.
Two months later, the ceasefire that came into effect in January collapsed.
As part of the next phase of the ceasefire, Israel refused to negotiate the end of the war, initially agreed, believing that Hamas should be disarmed as part of a future peaceful settlement. Hamas absolutely rejects this.
