EVVY introduces fertility insights through vaginal microbiome testing.

Evvy, a women's health care company, now provides fertility insights through its vaginal microbiome tests, the company announced Tuesday.
New York City-based Evvy is a direct consumer company. Its vaginal microbiome test starts at $129, and bacteria and fungi (or microbes) are examined in people's vaginas. After taking the test, people received a report explaining the microorganisms found in the vagina and the health conditions associated with these microorganisms. Based on the results, consumers will receive a customized treatment plan and have a one-on-one virtual meeting with the coach.
Now, the test results include sections about fertility insights. The users who tested received a “protection score”, which is a measure of protective bacteria such as lactic acid bacteria. This is related to improved fertility, reduced inflammation and better pregnancy outcomes.
Additionally, the test provides a diversity score for the microbiome. Greater microbiome diversity is associated with worse IVF and pregnancy outcomes. The test also showed “fertility disruptors,” or bacterial levels associated with negative fertility results such as Fannehessea, Gardnerella and Prevotella.
Finally, consumers can add a STI test that checks for STIs. These infections can affect fertility and pregnancy. If a test detects a sexually transmitted infection, the user can obtain treatment from EVVY.
Priyanka Jain, CEO and co-founder of Evvy, said the fertility insights products fill unmet demand in the market. Currently, one-third of infertility cases are marked as “unexplained.” Jana says that the vaginal microbiome is often a neglected factor in fertility.
“Study shows that certain vaginal microbiome characteristics are associated with better implantation and fertility outcomes, without balance [bacterial vaginosis] “It has to do with infertility, repeated pregnancy loss and pregnancy complications. Today, most fertility tests ignore the microbiome altogether. We are closing this gap. For the first time, individuals and providers can access scientifically supported insights to understand and optimize the vaginal microbiome (during and after conception).
To create fertility insights, Evvy’s scientific and clinical team conducted the latest published research and combined it with insights from its own vaginal microbiome dataset to find “key microbial patterns associated with fertility.”
Evvy hopes to continue to expand its platform to support women in meeting a variety of needs, including vaginal discomfort, fertility, pregnancy and menopause. But with new fertility insights, the company’s goal is to give people a better understanding of how their vaginal microbiome affects fertility and to support people before they reach “critical fertility milestones.”
