CVS Health Jeffrey Fernandez is welcomed as Senior Vice President of Aetna Medicare. He is joining the organization at Ochsner Health, where he serves as Senior Vice President of Population Health and CEO of the OCHSNER HEALTH Program. Prior to Ochsner, he worked at Humana for 16 years and most recently served as senior vice president in the field of Medicare West.
Digital Health Startup Drive health James Stringham was hired as Chief Strategy Officer. He will come to the organization from Banner Health Plans and serve as CEO. Prior to that, he held various leadership positions at Magellan Health for more than a decade.
HCA Health Care Yauheni “Owen” Solad was appointed as vice president of clinical artificial intelligence systems. Previously, he served as Vice President of Innovation at UC Davis Health.
Healthcare Software Company symplr Theresa Meadows is welcomed as its new CIO residence. She joined the company from the Cook Children’s Healthcare System in Texas, where she worked as CIO.
Women's Telemedicine Company Little West Jennifer Peña was hired as Chief Medical Officer. In the past, he served as the medical director of Oscar Health and chief medical officer of NURX, K Health and Vault Health.
Promotion
Cone Health appointed as a new position as Senior Vice President of Business and Partnership Development, Preston Hammock. He joined the health system in 2013, when Cone received the Alamance Regional Medical Center – when he served as its president.
Remote heart monitoring company Pacemate Appointed as JR Finkelmeier as new CEO. Last year, he joined Pacemate as Chief Commercial Officer. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade in medical device company Biotelemetry, which was acquired by Philips in 2021.
Purpose Healthcare Promoted Lisa Foo to Chief Operating Officer. She joined the health system in 2019 as Chief Business and Strategy Officer. In the past, she has held various leadership positions at McKinsey & Company.
University of Miami Health System Appointed as Dipen Parekh as new CEO. He served as the head of the Department of Urology in the Health System for the first time in 2012.

promote CEO Joseph Impicciche announced that he will retire by the end of the year. He joined the health system 20 years ago as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Legal Services. Ascension's current president Eduardo Conrado will take over the position of CEO on January 1.
Consensus Health CFO Daniel Morissette will retire on October 31 and the health system has begun looking for his successor. He has served as Chief Financial Officer of Commonspirit since 2019, when the Catholic Health Program (CHI) and Dignity Health merged to create the organization. He served as CFO dignity in 2016.
Lovelace Health System CEO Troy Greer resigned after two years in roles and health system. Michael Kueker, CEO of Lovelace Medical Group, has served as interim CEO. It is worth noting that this is the fourth announcement of CEO changes proposed by Lovelace in just three years.
Optum Health CEO Amar Desai left his role two years later and has now become president of the Optum Integrated Nursing Division and vice-chairman of optum Health. Optum CEO Patrick Conway has taken over as Optum Health leader. Prior to obtaining Optum Health, Desai served as president of healthcare services at CVS Health.
Layoffs
Main health care He held more than 100 roles in eight Illinois hospitals obtained from Ascension earlier this year. The health system said the positions were phased out because they were duplicated or inconsistent with Prime's care model.
Providence As part of the restructuring, about 600 jobs were cut, due to reduced reimbursement rates and rising expenses. These layoffs affect less than 1% of the overall workforce of the health system, mainly in non-clinical administrations.
University of California San Diego University of California Health There are approximately 230 employees due to financial challenges. The cuts affect about 1.5% of the total workforce of the health system, including some clinical positions.
Economic difficulties drive UCSF Health Eliminate 200 positions, accounting for about 1% of the health system's workforce. About a quarter of the fired employees work part-time and about half of the affected full-time employees work in management positions.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center Reduced about 650 employees, less than 2% of the health system's workforce. Affected employees are primarily engaged in research, administrative and other support roles. Vanderbilt said the layoffs were mainly due to cuts in medical research funding and expected reductions in Medicaid payments.
Virginia Mason Franciscan Health 116 workers are being laid off for the virtual care service sector to become more financially stable.
