HHS Health IT Innovation Exec joins investment agenda at critical times
The Trump administration has made substantial cuts to HHS, cutting its workforce in the FDA, CDC, and medical research funding. Medicaid could harm millions, depending on how Congressional budget negotiations perform. It raises questions about the government's strategy for other HHS sectors. What are the plans for the government to improve innovation and interoperability of health technologies? To address these and others, the MedCity Invest conference added Stephen Konya, Stephen Konya, Innovation and Strategic Partnership, ASTP – a federal entity that coordinates health IT efforts and promotes health information exchanges nationwide.
Konya will attend a town hall-style speech at a meeting at Willis Building in Chicago from May 20-21. He will discuss various approaches and deployments leverage to support the role of innovation and public-private partnerships.
Konia has extensive experience in health technology. He is the leading contact person for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the external healthcare startups and investor community. He currently leads the Digital Health Innovation Working Group under the Federal Health IT Coordination Committee, an inter-agency cooperative community of innovation representatives from 40 other federal agencies.
He previously served as the leading federal government head and co-founder of Cancerx and has led other federal projects including the HHS Pandemic X Innovation Accelerator, the National Health IT Script, The Smart Application Gallery of ONC Patient Participation Providers and FHIR Scable Scable Taskerce (FAST) Initiative (FAST) Initiative (FAST).
In addition to Konya, the conference will include panel discussions on AI in healthcare, strategic plans for the health system, and Spotlight Healthcare and Life Science startups as part of the Pitch Perfect competition.
