International theologians say

Despite the controversy, one of the most unsatisfactory 2025 Oscar-nominated films is “Conclusion”, a mysterious thriller directed by Edward Berger, starring Ralph Fiennes, Isabella Rossellini and Stanley Tucci, which gives life's political and religious traditions about Catholic cardinals a life and religious tradition.

The Vatican revealed that Pope Francis, 88, will pass on April 21, 2025, the day after Easter Sunday.

Despite being released in October 2024, the “conference” caused a profound chord for the audience, as Pope Francis was in poor health, announced in the public in February 2025.

The film follows the novel of the same name written by author Robert Harris.

Dennis Doyle, an emeritus professor at Ohio Dayton University, told Fox News that the number number was “that was pretty accurate.”

Doyle taught at the University of Catholic Studies for 40 years.

“There are only some differences, like some Latin uncertainty, the carpets in the movie are red, beige in real life,” Doyle said. “In the movie, the seating arrangements are very dramatic. They are not exactly that in real life. Even the way of voting is not exactly the same.”

Despite the creative freedom, Doyle believes the film is “dot very accurately.”

“I was surprised at how it performed and how they presented the character in a sense of empathy with every character,” Doyle told Fox News Digital.

To prepare for the movie, Doyle read the book twice.

“In the book, the character is a transgender person, but no operation is performed,” Doyle said. “In the movie, the character is bisexual, a person born from both parties, but still hasn't undergone surgery.”

When the movie was released, some Catholics regarded it as “anti-Catholic” and “dishonest”.

“I think everything in the movie is very realistic,” Doyle said. “I think, literally, it's really not very realistic. I don't think it's going to happen, it's a bisexual person who's going to be elected pope. But from a symbolic point of view, I think the ending is very interesting.”

He added: “I can see that the ending may be a temporary issue for some Catholics.”

Although “a bit far-fetched,” Doyle said, the film talks about the role of women in the church and whether the Catholic Church can be equal to men and women.

“In the movie, all the people who serve the Cardinal are sisters,” Doyle said. “They are all nuns, and in real life there is only one employee working in that building, and they will be the ones who will sell food, change the bed and that kind of thing.”

The deeper problem, Doyle said, is that the film portrays men as leadership roles and women as servants.

“The conversation about transgender is relatively new [in the church],” Doyle said. “I really think there is more talk in the United States and Europe than in the Catholic Church around the world and even in Rome. ”

The Vatican issued a declaration in 2024, namely, Dignitas Infinita of the Vatican, and Pope Francis condemned the theory of gender. The document asserts that attempts to change an individual’s unchanging gender were ultimately misled by the attempt to play God.

“You can watch the whole movie until the last two minutes, and that's not the problem with the movie. It doesn't really come out. Several foreshadowings about the conclusions that are going to come out, but this movie isn't that way,” Doyle said.

After Francis' death, Doyle believed that the newly released film would have an interest in the Catholic Church.

“It might make people more aware that a lot of political activity is happening, which is an interesting theme in the movies and books,” he said. “I don’t think it has any effect on how people think about the church, and not for the whole, it makes the ideal of the conference interesting.”

“Condave” was nominated for the 2025 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor, and received the Best Adapted Screenplay.
