Iran seeks help to rebuild Lebanon, potentially strengthening Hezbollah
It was an important meeting because it showed that Iran tried to redouble its efforts to participate in Lebanon after last year’s setback in Israel’s war against Hezbollah and Assad’s fall.
Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi met with his Lebanese colleagues in Beirut this week. It was an important meeting because it showed that Iran tried to redouble its efforts to participate in Lebanon after last year’s setback in Israel’s war against Hezbollah and the fall of the Assad regime.
“After he arrived at Beirut-Rafik Hariri International Airport on Tuesday morning, Iran's state media noted: “He told reporters that in his foreign policy, the Islamic Republic of Iran has prioritized its relations with neighboring countries, West Asian countries and friendly countries.”
Iranian ministers flew to Beirut after the Cairo meeting. It should be obvious that Iran seeks to surround Israel during this trip to countries bordering Israel. Egypt has ties to Israel. Lebanon does not. However, Israel has been on strike against Hezbollah since the ceasefire in November 2024.
“Iranian companies are ready to assist in the reconstruction of Lebanon and reaffirm Iran's support for Lebanon's sovereignty and unification of opposition to occupation,” the Iranian foreign minister said. The IRNA pointed out that Iran is ready to participate in the reconstruction work and improve economic ties with Lebanon.
This is after the Lebanese Prime Minister's comments on the Lebanese arms being in the hands of the state after the Lebanese president was in Iraq. Lebanon seems to be trying to face Hezbollah gradually. Iran does not want this to happen.

“At a press conference in Beirut on Tuesday, Aragic reiterated Iran’s strong support for Lebanon’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, which underscores Iran’s commitment to relationships built on mutual respect, common interests, non-interactive domestic affairs and sectoral stability.”
Iran also criticized part of Israel's Lebanese “occupation”. “This gives support to the Lebanese government and people's efforts to terminate their careers through diplomacy or other means,” Iran said.
Iranian companies prepare to help Lebanon rebuild
“Iranian companies are ready to carry out this reconstruction effort and if the Lebanese government wants it, it will be carried out through its government,” said the Iranian foreign minister. Iran's top diplomats will also meet with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.
“The Foreign Minister said that the final victory would belong to the Lebanese people and the frontline of resistance, and the failure of the Israeli regime is certain and inevitable,” the IRNA pointed out.
The Iranians also paid tribute to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli air strike. “He pointed out that Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's difficulty will not only not undermine the path of resistance, but will further strengthen his strength and determination,” the report said.
He also said that Iran's late leader Ayatollah Khomeini “teached us the sword of victory.” He went on to say, “So, I believe that the final victory will belong to the people of Lebanon and the front of resistance, and the failure of the Zionist regime is certain and inevitable.”
