Pasadena police reportedly shot and killed a dog while responding to an incident involving a woman on Tuesday night.

At about 9 p.m., the city police department responded to reports that a woman was lying on the ground, with a released dog near South Hudson Avenue and East California Avenue, according to CBS News.

The media reported that police said the woman was making “incoherent statements” and that a police officer who was charged with the dog was charged before animal control officials or fire departments could arrive at the scene.

According to CBS News, officers shot and killed the dog. The woman was hospitalized for assessment and had no other injuries.

The Pasadena Police Department did not respond to a request for comment from the Times on Thursday.
