Italian investigators found an illegal cigarette factory in a warehouse in the industrial area of Piacenza, about 70 kilometers south of Milan.

Italian financial police announced on Wednesday that drug law enforcement seized 14 tons of fake cigarettes and 10 tons of raw cigarettes.

Inside the facility, investigators discovered a complete production line, including packaging materials and machinery, and recommended large-scale manufacturing in the black market.

The counterfeit cigarettes have a compelling imitation that mimics a major tobacco brand logo, but are produced without license or tax stamps.

The raw materials were from Poland and were shipped to Italy via land, police said.

One person was arrested and the other was arrested for smuggling and trademark infringement.

The investigation also led to a coordinated raid in Romania where police seized 25 tons of forged cigarettes and undetected guns.

Several suspicious members of the International Crime Organization were arrested.
