Key investigators in Karen Read Case question cocktail glass theory

A Massachusetts police sergeant played a key role in the investigation, leading Karen Read to testify about the initial misstep in the murder charges that he told other authorities earlier Thursday that John O'Keefe may have been hit by a bar glass, causing a face injury that caused his face and head.
However, investigators eventually claimed that Red attacked her Boston police boyfriend with the back of the Lexus SUV, fleeing the scene, causing him to die in the cold on January 29, 2022.
Defense attorney Alan Jackson was awarded a state police sergeant. Yuri Bukhenik admitted on Thursday that he called the Medical Examiner's Office and said O'Keefe could be hit by a cocktail glass.

“At 10:41 a.m., you called the Medical Examiner's Office to inform them that Mr. O'Keefe Quote was hit in the face by a cocktail glass, or at least it seemed right, right?” Jackson asked.
“This part is the medical examiner's office I recommend.” “Where are they, responsible for the medical part of……”
Jackson cut him off against his own doubts. After a brief sidebar, Judge Beverly gunner told witnesses to do his “best” to answer the questions he was asked.

Jackson also asked key witnesses, such as Boston Police Officer Brian Albert, his sister son Jennifer McCabe and her husband Matt McCabe, who lied from the beginning, whether O'Keefe was found dead on the front lawn and whether he entered Albert's home on the way to 34 Fairview.
Of the three, only Jennifer McCabe testified at the second trial on Thursday. She told the juror that she saw Read's vehicle outside the house shortly after midnight, but had never seen Read or O'Keefe come in.
Red was outside court Thursday, without speaking under oath, telling reporters in simple words that she saw him in.

“I saw him walk into the house,” she said.
When asked if she could describe “how and when,” she said no, but said she had said it in the past and thought Special Attorney Hank Brennan might be hitting a clip at the trial.
Investigators, like O'Keefe's missing sneakers, recovered broken glass and black straw separately from the scene.
Brennan asked Bukhenik if he had a phrase about law enforcement circles during a direct check.

“Falling off the shoes,” Booknick said.
Another component of the theory is the mockery of reading. Brennan played a ring camera video shot from O'Keefe's driveway, which showed the lights breaking when leaving home at around 5 a.m. on January 29, 2022.
Booknik said he asked about reading about the broken taillights later that morning and quoted her as saying, “I don’t know how I did it last night.”

He said O'Keeffe suffered serious injuries to his face and head, and when Booknik saw him at Good Samaritan Hospital, his right arm cut his right arm.
Bukhenik moved to the United States from Ukraine at the age of 9 and joined the Marine Corps after 9/11, and is expected to resume Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. ET.
